The Quaker Tapestry

The Quaker Tapestry consists of over 70 embroidered panels of narrative crewel embroidery. Begun in 1981, it celebrates the ideas and experiences of Quakers since the movement started in 1652. Over 4000 people in fifteen countries helped to make the Tapestry and it can now be seen in the historic Friends Meeting House in Kendal, Cumbria. Copies of fourteen of the panels are displayed through this exhibition.

Permission to use the illustrations in this display has been given by the Quaker Tapestry Scheme. Further information about the 77 embroidered panels can be obtained from: The Quaker Tapestry Exhibition Centre, Friends Meeting House, Stramongate, Kendal, Cumbria LA9 4BH
